Maldives has its own resources perhaps the country where economy is largely based on Tourism & Fishing. Maldives had already lifted import export contracts from various countries of the World & has triggered it's economy from 7% to 42% in the last 30 years. It has an international airport which receives millions of tourists which boosts the country's GDP gradually.
I visited the islands in March'15 and was shocked to see the island was as developed as mainland , dey have all possible resources imported from mainland...dey even have bajaj autorickshaw over there...all major banks , railway tkt office, air india connections to 3 cities with charter services provided to islanders at very cheap prices...
